You've Built the Career. Now It's Time to Elevate It.
You have the expertise, experience and standing that comes from doing what you do well. What you may not yet have is the asset that turns all of that into something the wider world can engage with, refer to, and use to take you to the next level and to places you have not yet considered.
This page is about that asset. The book that elevates a career, the partnership that produces it, and the evidence that proves it works.
What This Work Actually Delivers
Below are two examples of what this elevation has looked like in practice.
Most of my clients prefer to remain unnamed, for understandable reasons. The work happens in confidence and the relationships are private. The examples below are real, the outcomes are accurate, and the details have been adjusted only to protect the clients' identities.
A founder in business sale advisory
This founder had built a successful business helping owners exit and retire, but he knew that growth meant standing out in a market where most of his competitors were doing the same thing he was. He recognised early that a book, written and positioned well, would give him something his rivals didn't have and turn every conversation into one worth having.
The book explored life after business. What owners stood to gain, or quietly lose, by not thinking carefully about what came next. It gave his clients a window into a future they hadn't yet considered, and it gave him the conversation his competitors couldn't start.
Used at conferences and in one-to-one meetings, the book directly generated more than £350,000 of new business over the following two years. Five years on, it continues to drive growth, has supported him through the sale of his shares, and is now the model for the follow-up he intends to write for his next venture.
The book put him on the inside of the conversations that mattered
A founder in recruitment
This founder had spent years trying to get through the door of two of the largest employers in his county, with no success. Cold approaches, mailshots, networking events, all of it had taken him precisely nowhere.
We discussed what role a book could play, and how the right one, positioned carefully, could put him directly in front of the decision-makers who had previously been out of reach.
After publication, the book was sent to both companies with a handwritten note and a marked passage suggesting how the thinking inside might be useful to their staff retention challenges. Both responded. Within weeks he was inside their offices discussing recruitment. Eight years later, both relationships are still ongoing, and the value of the work that has flowed from them has more than paid for the book many times over.
A book, deployed deliberately, can do work that years of cold outreach cannot.
Other outcomes the right book has delivered
Different clients and sectors, but the right book has, time and again, delivered:
Board appointments at organisations that previously would not have considered them
Speaking engagements at industry-defining events, with the platform work that follows
Career changes and the dream role suddenly becoming available
Media positioning that shifts the client from operator to recognised commentator in their field
Repositioning that allows them to raise their fees by a meaningful multiple
What Actually Sets This Apart
Through FCM Publishing for non-fiction and Chronos Publishing for autobiographies and novels, you go from idea to published author under one roof. No handing your finished manuscript off and losing control of what happens next.
This matters more than it sounds. Most authors who work with a writing partner finish their manuscript and then hit a wall, because finding the right publishing route is its own discipline. By the time they've worked it out, the momentum has gone, the book sits in a drawer, and the investment they made in writing it never compounds into the authority and reach it should have done.
That doesn't happen here. Publication is part of the deal.
This is also exactly the kind of work AI cannot do. AI can draft, summarise and mimic voice in shallow ways. What it can't do is sit with a complex human, understand what they're actually trying to say versus what they think they want to say, and architect a book that does justice to both their expertise and their reader's needs. The strategic and developmental thinking that defines whether a book works or doesn't is exactly the part that has to stay human.
The Most Powerful People In The Room Have A Book.
Do You?
Three Ways To Work Together
Every author arrives with a different set of needs, tolerance for time investment, and their relationship with the writing itself. There are three distinct partnerships to choose from, each priced and positioned for the kind of engagement it actually involves. Whatever route you take, the destination is the same.
You as a published author.
-
For the founder, executive or public figure who wants the strategic foundation in place before deciding how the book gets written.
This is an intensive engagement that produces a complete architectural document for your book. It includes deep voice analysis through structured interviews, audience and positioning work, a full chapter-by-chapter structure, narrative arc, and a clear roadmap for execution. You leave with something genuinely valuable, a document that defines exactly what your book is, who it's for, and how it should be written.
What you do with that blueprint is up to you. Some clients take it and write the book themselves, others hand it to a writer of their choosing. Many use it as the foundation for upgrading into one of the deeper partnerships below, in which case the blueprint fee is credited against the larger engagement.
This is also the right starting point for anyone who isn't yet sure whether the book they have in mind is the book they should actually be writing. The blueprint process tends to clarify that question quickly, and saves you from a much larger investment in the wrong direction.
-
For the author who wants to write the book themselves, but understands that writing well and writing strategically are different skills, and wants the expertise of someone who does both alongside them throughout.
This partnership begins with the full Book Blueprint, then continues as a structured developmental relationship through the writing of your manuscript. Regular meetings, chapter-by-chapter editorial feedback, and someone keeping the structure honest and the voice consistent as you go. Someone who keeps the work moving forward when momentum dips, which it will, because writing a book is hard and that's why most people who start one never finish.
By the time you reach the end, you have a manuscript that is unambiguously yours, written in your voice, with your thinking and your stories, but shaped by someone who has done this many times and knows what makes the difference between a book that exists and a book that works.
From there, publication, with full editorial, design, production support, distribution and entry into the Business Book of the Year Awards.
This is the partnership most authors choose, because they want to do the writing themselves with expert support alongside them.
-
For the founder, executive or public figure whose schedule, role or temperament means they are not going to be writing the book themselves, but who wants the strategic depth and creative leadership of working with someone who treats the project as their own.
The writing is delivered either directly or by a vetted writer working under close supervision, decided project by project according to what serves the book best.
The full partnership includes the Book Blueprint, the complete writing of your manuscript, full publication, launch support, and entry into the Business Book of the Year Awards (for business books only, other awards will be discussed where relevant).
The authors who choose this tier are investing in what the book will do for their business and their trajectory over the years that follow.
Authority Isn't Claimed. It's Published.
Inside the Partnership
Whichever tier you choose, the work follows a process refined over more than a decade of publishing books that do their job. Each step matters, and skipping any of them is how books end up generic, off-voice, or being abandoned halfway through.
-
We begin with a detailed discovery conversation to understand your vision, your audience, your goals and your story. Just a conversation, no forms or briefs required.
-
Before a single word of your book is written, we spend time getting to know how you think, how you speak and how you tell a story. Through a series of in-depth interviews, the focus is on how you explain things, the phrases you naturally reach for, the rhythm of your language when you're at your most animated. This is the foundation everything else is built on. When your readers open the book, they will hear you on every page. Interviews are recorded and transcribed for editorial use only.
-
Only once your voice is truly understood is the structure of the book developed. The chapters, the arc, the narrative thread that runs through everything. You review, refine and approve before any further work begins.
-
Depending on which tier we're working in, this is either you writing with developmental support alongside you, or the writing being delivered under your direction with regular check-ins. Either way, the work stays consistent in voice and structure because the foundations laid in steps two and three hold throughout.
-
Each section is reviewed and refined together until every word feels right. This is your book, and it should feel like it.
-
Writing your book is only the beginning. Publication through one of two established independent publishing houses follows, with editing, design, print and distribution handled professionally under your name. Your book reaches the readers it was written for.
-
Every business book published through these imprints is eligible for entry into the Business Book of the Year Awards, one of the most prestigious accolades in the industry. And we don't just enter, we compete. For seven consecutive years, books published under these imprints have been named finalists. Seven years in a row. That is what a book written and published at this level can do for your reputation.
Who This Is For?
The book writing partnership is for you if:
You have a story, expertise or insight that the world genuinely needs to hear, and you understand the difference between something worth saying and something worth publishing
You recognise that a book would establish your authority in your field, and you want to do it right first time
You value working with an expert who will tell you the truth about your book, including the parts you might not want to hear, because that's what gets you a finished manuscript
You understand the value of working with someone who can take you all the way from first conversation to published author, with one strategic partner throughout
You invest in the things that matter
How We Begin
Every engagement starts with a twenty-minute introductory conversation. The purpose is to determine whether your book and the partnership are a sensible match, and whether the chemistry is right for the kind of close work this involves.
The purpose is to determine whether your book and the partnership are a sensible match, and whether the chemistry is right for the kind of close work this involves. It's a conversation about whether we should keep talking, with substantive discussion reserved for the paid strategic session that follows.
If we both decide we would like to work together, the next step is a paid strategic session at £950, designed to give you genuine, substantive input on your book before you commit to a full engagement. Ninety minutes working through your concept, audience, positioning and the realistic scope of what this could become. If you proceed into one of the three partnerships, the £950 is credited against this engagement.
Discretion is guaranteed. All initial conversations are held in the strictest confidence.
